PAST EVENTS 2008

Lama Cho Tab Khen Zambuling (Alfredo Sfeir-Younis) followed a slightly different rhythm in 2008. He followed a deep call to regain the more contemplative aspects of his spiritual life. The call was answered by a spring pilgrimage to India where he followed the footsteps of the Buddha. The journey was captured by Devi Studios and will be shared in the future. Lama Zambuling found the emanations of the Buddha very much present and shared some of these subtle energies with us on camera.

He later ventured into Asia in a continuation of this call and this continues in some measure to this day.

In 2008, another call to bring spirituality where it is not led Lama Zambuling to bring the Power of Silence (POS) and meditation into high security prisons of Columbia. Initially, this began with the men’s prison facility and in 2009, he will answer the invitation to bring POS into the women’s facility.

Additionally, a website was launched to support a new activity, Songs for World Peace. The aim is to discover the sound associated with the vibration of peace. This activity is still being developed.

It was an active year with regular activities on 4 continents. Silent meditations were organized in many cities in the world. The first one was in Bombarral, Portugal in April 2007, followed by Washington DC, Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador, Santiago in Chile, Pereira in Colombia, Tuxtlas in Mexico and at the United Nations in New York (February 15, 2008). The main purpose of these events is to meditate, contemplate, pray or simply remain in silence, focusing your mind and awareness on world peace. It is through one’s power, the fullness of one’s silence, and our collective silence that the group will be able to reach every corner of the planet, to eliminate violence and conflict and to open the doors for world peace.

The Zambuling Institute for Human Transformation is officially recognized as a non-profit organization in Washington, DC, Brussels, Belgium, Lisbon, Portugal, and Santiago de Chile.

See the pages that follow for highlights of the silent peace meditations organized in collaboration with friends of ZIHT in various countries in 2008. This list does not include the many meditations organized spontaneously within organizations, churches, universities, national parks, and homes of people met along the way.  We are most grateful for the many expressions of kindness, generosity, and love given.

Please, let’s continue! Contact us if you are interested in bringing the power of your silence toward the collective realization of world peace at silentpeace.media@gmail.com or add a comment below.
