PAST EVENTS 2007

Cho Tab Khen Zambuling (Alfredo Sfeir-Younis) recently went to the United States and Latin America –November 15 to December 14 2007– with the view to share several dimensions of the Power of Silence (POS).  Herewith, some of the highlights of that trip.

Washington D.C., USA.  Upon arrival he participated in a meditation held inMcLean, Virginia where the POS was shared among the participants, as well as, led a collective healing moment with those who attended.  In addition, he gave two presentations on the POS and on the importance of the “alternative scenario of life” for spiritual transformation.  He also gave a privately held spiritual retreat for two days under the theme “Spiritual Acupuncture and Human Transformation”.  The retreat fulfilled all expectation and there are many follow up activities coming.  Finally, it is important to highlight that a seminar was given at the World Bank, on the spiritual dimensions of a sustainable society.  The emphasis was on a value based ethics and on the need to embrace a New Eco-Morality.

Visits To Panama, Peru and Venezuela.  The main aim of those two visits was to assist all of those volunteers who are interested in organizing a silent meditation for world peace.  In principle, the meditation in Panama will take place late October 2008 and the one in Peru and Venezuela will take place on April 13 and March 21st 2008, respectively.  The idea in Panama and Venezuela is to have these meditations in their capital cities (Panama City and Caracas).  In Peru, the proposal is to carry out these meditations in Lima and Cuzco.  The local teams are great and the core motivation is moving mountains to be able to have these two events on site.

Visit To Chile.  The trip to Santiago (the capital) began with a major conference on the POS.  This was held in the “Casa De La Cultura”, of theMunicipality ofLas Condes.  The little theater was almost full of people.  Also, a one day retreat was held in Santiago with the main aim to address issues and practices in relation to spiritual and material human transformation.  In addition, a lecture was carried out to inaugurate a new space for theCenter ofThe Medicine Buddha.  In all those activities a silent meditation for world peace was carried out.

Visit To Colombia.  More than ten days were spent in Colombia.  Many cities and small towns were visited –e.g., Bogotá, Ciudad Bolivar, Armenia, Calarca, Pereira, Filandia, and more.  And hundreds of people were touched via activities, meditation, seminars and teachings.  Among so many interventions, four are highlighted here.  First, it was the visit to Ciudad Bolivar, the poorest conglomerate of people near the capital city of Bogotá.  There we visit a ‘miracle’ university that is sponsored by the Catholic Congregation of Padres Salecianos.  Thousands of poor people are trained there to gain a new perspective in life and acquire some skills to attain productive employment.  This is an incredibly successful operation.  A silent meditation for world peace will take place there by the end of September 2008.  Second, it was the incredibly holy visit to the Calarca region, immersed in natural forest, water cascades, and wildlife.  It was a moment of sharing the most powerful elements of nature with Colombians who are so special and so dedicated to the betterment of humanity.  They live an exemplary life assisting themselves and hundreds of people in the community.  Three, it is the one day retreat for world peace and the silent meditation for world peace in Filandia.  It was a magic place that created a magic moment that lasted more than three days.  Hundreds of people came and attended several lectures, the silent meditation, and a shamanic fire, where everyone actively participated. This was organized by a meditation center called “Oceano”.  This was an impeccable way to benefit people via spiritual activities.  Four, it is the seminar and shared dinner at the Hare Krishna center in Pereira.  This experience was an incredible sacred moment of sharing, dialogue and inner transformation.
